Terms of Use

Effective Date: July 23, 2026  ·  Cerberus, a product of CTF Designs  ·  Murrieta, CA

Cerberus ("Cerberus," "we," "us," or "our") is a website security service and a product of CTF Designs. These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of cerberusscan.com, cerberusscan.app, the Cerberus scanning service, and the Cerberus Site Check WordPress plugin (together, the "Service"). By using the Service, installing the plugin, or submitting a website to be scanned, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. What Cerberus Is

Cerberus inspects a website and reports what an attacker could find, so it can be fixed first. The external scanner checks publicly visible exposure, known breach data, performance, and build quality. The WordPress plugin checks installed software versions, public vulnerability advisories, and common WordPress configuration issues. Scanning is non-intrusive and read-only; Cerberus does not attempt to break into, overload, or alter your site. Findings are our opinion at a single point in time and may be produced in part using automated, industry-standard tools and third-party vulnerability data.

2. Authorization to Scan — Your Responsibility

You may only scan a website that you own or that you are explicitly authorized to test. Scanning systems without authorization may violate law, including the U.S. Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (18 U.S.C. § 1030) and California Penal Code § 502.

By submitting a URL, you represent and warrant that you are the owner of that website or have obtained the owner's explicit permission to have it scanned.

Cerberus scanning is non-intrusive and read-only. You are solely responsible for ensuring you have the legal right to authorize any scan you request, and for all use of the Service under your direction.

3. Diagnostic Only — No Guarantee of Security

4. Reports & Remediation

Reports are provided for your information. If Cerberus finds problems, CTF Designs may offer to fix or rebuild your website under a separate written agreement. Requesting or receiving a scan does not create a client relationship until such an agreement is signed.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to: submit websites you are not authorized to scan; use the Service for any unlawful purpose; attempt to disrupt, overload, or reverse-engineer the Service; or submit false or misleading information. We may suspend or refuse access for any suspected misuse.

6. Intellectual Property and Open-Source License

The Cerberus and CTF Designs names, logos, branding, website, hosted services, and non-plugin materials are owned by or licensed to CTF Designs and may not be copied or reused without permission. The Cerberus Site Check WordPress plugin code is separately licensed under the GNU General Public License, version 2 or later. Nothing in these Terms restricts rights granted by that license. Reports we generate for you are yours to use for securing your own site.

7. Third-Party Services and Data

The Service relies on third parties including WordPress.org, WPVulnerability, Supabase, Resend, and hosting providers. Their services may be interrupted, changed, or discontinued, and their own terms and privacy policies apply. Vulnerability information can contain errors, omissions, duplicates, or delays. Cerberus may combine or replace data sources to keep the Service operating and accurate.

8. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, CTF Designs and Cerberus are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from your use of (or inability to use) the Service, from any scan, missed or inaccurate finding, notification delay, third-party service failure, or security incident. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability relating to the Service will not exceed the amount, if any, you paid for Cerberus during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. Any remediation work is governed solely by its own separate written agreement.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless CTF Designs and Cerberus from any claims, damages, or costs arising out of your use of the Service, including any scan you request or authorize without proper authority, or any violation of law or of these Terms.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, and any disputes will be handled in Riverside County, California.
